๐ง AQUA at the European Drinking Water Symposium
The implementation of the revised Drinking Water Directive (DWD) continues to raise important questions for both industry and regulators.
On 17 June, AQUA METERING took part in the European Drinking Water Symposium, organised by our partner European Drinking Water, represented by Katarina Fritzsche-Renner from Diehl Metering.
The discussions focused on the implementation of Article 11 of the DWD and the transition towards the new European system for drinking water contact materials.
Among the key takeaways:
๐ง Continued dialogue between the European Commission, national authorities and industry remains essential.
๐ง Participants highlighted the risk of a regulatory gap as the current national schemes expire before the new EU framework becomes fully operational.
๐ง Harmonised testing methods, certification procedures and sufficient laboratory capacity remain important priorities.
While the challenges are well understood, there was broad agreement on the need to work together towards pragmatic solutions that ensure both regulatory certainty and the continued supply of safe drinking water products across Europe.
